FAQS
.Q: Why do we require a free in home consultation?
A: You and your pets will meet the pet sitter. The consultation takes about 45 minutes. We will discuss your pet(s) and both the pet and house service you desire, as well as go over necessary paperwork. If we both agree on the terms, Two of a Kind Pet Sitters will obtain a copy of your house key, verify that they work, sign paperwork, and accept payment.
Q: Why do I have to give a key to you?
A: Two of a Kind Pet Sitters holds keys for regular clients because it it more efficient so we do not keep picking them up and returning them (there is a fee if we need to pick up after the initial consultation or return). We prefer to pick up one to two sets of fully tested keys during our initial visit. The second key is kept in a secure location. No personal identification is held on the second key as it is coded properly. And for your benefit, allowing us to keep a key on file allows us to provide last-minute or emergency visits.
Q: Are you Bonded and Insured?
A: Yes, through a Nationally recognized provider called Pet Sitters Associates. Anyone not insured and has employees and is not bonded puts the client and themselves at risk.
Q: When is payment due?
A: Payment is due before service begins usually, but we are flexible for you.
Q: What if I need service and do not give 24 hours notice?
A: You will be charged a fee of $10.00 when service is requested and is within a 24 hour time period. Our pet sitters have personal lives and agendas to complete. We need to respect that. Please try and allow as much notice when scheduling a service.
Q: What if I cancel my dog walk?
A: There are no cancellation fees if you are able to give 48 hours notice. If you are unable to give 48 hours, we can move your walk to another day during that week if we and you have availability. If there are no other times that will work for your schedule during that week, you will be charged for the full visit. Employees at Two of a Kind Pet Sitters are scheduled appropriately, and to keep them satisfied and compensated, we ask for your understanding.
Vacation Visits and Overnight Clients: A fee will be assessed if 1 week or less notice is given. If a client chooses to return home on an earlier date than what was agreed upon, the client will still be responsible for the entire booking fee.
Q: Do you communicate with us while we are away?
A: Absolutely. I believe clear and open communication is the only way to go. We will send pictures through texts, and if you need to call or email us, please do so at any point.
Q: Do you administer medications to my pet?
A: Yes, we can administer pills, cream, and drops at no charge. If you have injections that need to be made, please ask. We will do this for a minuscule fee.
Q. What will happen if my pet becomes ill or injured while I'm away and they are in your care?
A. During our initial free consultation, our clients are asked to complete a veterinary and emergency contact sheet for each pet under our care. If an illness or an emergency occurs, we will first contact your veterinarian and transport them if necessary, or to the emergency veterinary hospital, You will be notified about the situation ASAP. Two of a Kind Pet Sitters will not be responsible for costs incurred from veterinary visits or ER visits for your pet. Additional time spent transporting your pet and providing the necessary care will be an additional charge.
Q: Where will my dog be walked?
A: Before service begins, please send a PDF or Word document to us with your pet's eating behaviors, favorite neighborhood walks and parks, where the food, treats, collars, harness, leash, poop bags are stored for your pet, any pet behaviors we should be aware of (eating poop, sticks, barking, etc.), WiFi network and Password, and any other miscellaneous items you wish to detail. Just like hiking in the woods, leave no trash behind. We will treat your home with utter care and present it back to you in the condition you left it or better.
Q: Should my home be clean before the Pet Sitter arrives?
A: We do ask to have your home in a presentable manner. Our Pet Sitters have their own homes and routines. To be fair, please have dishes done and things put away in an orderly fashion. If you have sharp objects on the floor, dishes sprayed across different rooms of the house, and if it puts off an "Animal House" feel, then we will not service your pet because we do not want be injured and not have your pet be injured.
